As I got older, this kid developed into my best friend. My only friend, in all honesty. Until one day he disappeared, leaving me heart broken and alone.
One day, a few weeks before my 12th birthday, my mother had started getting sick. On the 18th - my birthday - she had been admitted to a GH in the lower mainland. They said it was just gallstones.
